PHULAE PINEAPPLE

Phulae pineapple is a annual plant. The fruit has cylindrical shape. It is smaller than other varieties of pineapple. The young fruit has a green skin. When it is ripe, the skin becomes orange-yellow. The pale yellow flesh is crispy, fragrant and sweet. It is popularly eaten fresh. Phulae pineapple is popularly grown in the north especially in Chiangrai province. It propagates by separation of young shoots or growth buds. (The size of the fruit is approximately 7 cm. in diameter and 9 cm. in length)
